Probably the fastest solution is to hang up on the customer "service" rep and call back. Chance are that the next one you talk to might have less of an attitude.

I've had to go through this same thing when cancelling my AT&T Worldnet account and it took me a total of 30 minutes to get everything done and he gave me the same run around telling me that if I didn't listen he would start all over. Someone needs to step in and regulate these companies and require that cancellations are done within a certain amount of time, perhaps two minutes. There is no reason that customers should be hijacked for half an hour and given a hard time over wanting to cancel. I was so completely stressed out afterwards that I will never use AT&T for anything again and before the call, I really was thinking I might use them sometime. THESE COMPANIES SHOULD BE PUNISHED WHEN THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS THIS WAY!!! I SAY BOYCOTT THEM WHEN THEY DO THIS!!
